Wildfowl Reserve

Learning and Community

Kaner Olette worked alongside Allen Scott Landscape for a new masterplan for the former quarry site near Sevenoaks for Kent Wildlife Trust.

The substantial remodelling and extension to an existing visitor centre was intended to create a fresh identity and resolve some fundamental issues relating to the existing layout. New facilities such as shop, café, education room and reception were to be grouped around a new central circulation and wayfinding spine. The building would open itself out to the lake to the west with a bridge link to a floating hide for viewing the waterbirds.

Low energy construction techniques would be employed throughout.
