Ightham Mote Farmyard
Workspace, Learning and Heritage
As part of a wider masterplan for strategic improvements to Ightham Mote, Kaner Olette were appointed by the National Trust to develop the northwest range of the Victorian Farmyard for use by their rangers and volunteers.
One of the key challenges was to address the stepped levels and sensitively introduce new office, mess room and training facilities. A bat loft was incorporated and original features such as timber trusses, banded decorative plain tiling and historic joinery were restored.
The interior is lined with simple robust plywood with new lighting, heating and a wood stove.
